Do you know about the built-in features of Ameritas’ Disability Insurance policy?

Understanding the built-in features of the Ameritas product will enable you to educate your clients on the full potential benefits of their policy and how it will work for them.

Ameritas Built-In Features:

Nondisabling Injury Benefit: If an insured suffers an injury that does not disable them but requires medical or dental treatment, this benefit reimburses the cost of that treatment, up to one-half of their base benefit but not to exceed $3,000 per injury, regardless of out-of-pocket expenses. There is no limit to the number of times this feature can be used.

How does this differ from other carriers? No other carrier offers this feature.

Good Health Benefit: Two days are waived off the elimination period for each consecutive year, the insured does not receive monthly disability benefits under their policy (elimination period will not be reduced to less than 30 days).

COBRA Premium Benefit: If an insured loses employment due to their disability, this feature reimburses the cost of COBRA premiums (individual or family) up to $1,000 per month, for a maximum of 18 months.

How does this differ from other carriers? No other carrier offers this feature.

Presumptive Disability:  Total Disability is presumed, if an insured suffers the complete loss of sight in both eyes, hearing in both ears, speech or the use of any two limbs even If the insured can work in their occupation.  The elimination period is waived and benefits are payable as long as the loss continues.

How does this differ from other carriers?  Ameritas does NOT require the loss to be permanent where many carriers do require the loss to be permanent and irrecoverable.
